More opportunities to learn about Marion County Transit Plan announced

Indy Chamber News Archives

Residents interested in learning how the Marion County Transit Plan will affect their neighborhoods and lives can take advantage of a number of upcoming educational sessions, including a breakfast panel discussion, a conversation at a music venue and six neighborhood-based open houses.

The Marion County Transit Plan is the first step in the implementation of Indy Connect, the multi-county, long-range transportation vision for CentralIndiana.

Based on years of planning and public feedback, the Marion County Transit Plan is a detailed investment plan that will provide a 70% increase in IndyGo’s service, with shorter waits, longer evening hours and more weekend service for most of Indianapolis. It also includes three rapid transit lines (Red, Blue and Purple) along high ridership corridors.

“We want to offer a variety of options for residents to discuss and understand the specifics of the Marion County Transit Plan,” said Anna Gremling, executive director of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization, which is one of the three partners working on Indy Connect, along with IndyGo and the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA).
