The Regional Skills Analysis identifies the core competencies and skills for employers and institutions to understand the in-demand skills that align with the local labor market in growth industries.

Advanced Manufacturing

Indiana has the highest share of manufacturing employment in the United States. Supporting nearly 16,000 jobs, representing 8% of jobs in the region.

Agribusiness

Agribusiness has historically been a significant economic driver of Indy’s economy, and it supports over 19,000 jobs. The agribusiness industry in Indy has grown 10% in five years and it is projected to continue to grow.

Information Technology

Companies in the Information Technology (IT) sector employ over 23,000 people in Indy. The IT sector is projected to grow even faster over the next five years.

Life Sciences

The Life Sciences sector employs over 20,000 people in Indy, with several subsectors growing significantly, particularly pharmaceuticals and research & development.

Logistics

The logistics sector employs over 110,000 people in Indy. Indy has experienced high growth rates in this sector over the past five years and is expected to outperform the rest of the state.

Sports

The Sports sector employs nearly 6,000 people in Indy. Beyond sports teams like the Colts and Pacers, the Indy region also has a particular strength in motorsports and governing body organizations related to sports.
