Conquer Paralysis Now Announces Grand Opening of Indianapolis-Based Headquarters and Second DRIVEN NeuroRecovery Center Powered byNeuroHope

Conquer Paralysis Now (CPN), a nonprofit dedicated to furthering advancements in spinal cord injury research and treatment, announces the grand opening of its new headquarters in Indianapolis, which will be the home of its second DRIVEN NeuroRecovery Center powered by NeuroHope. The organization, founded by INDYCAR team owner and paralysis advocate Sam Schmidt, has relocated its current headquarters from Las Vegas into the repurposed 114,000+ square-foot facility formerly occupied by Five Seasons Sports Club.

Schmidt himself has been a quadriplegic since 2000 when he was injured in an INDYCAR accident. Since then, Schmidt has dedicated his life to finding a cure for paralysis and establishing programs and facilities to facilitate healing, rehabilitation, and independence among those living with neurological conditions.

"With the grand opening of our new headquarters in Indianapolis, Conquer Paralysis Now will collaborate with NeuroHope to treat patients with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions, and serve clients who can use the facility recreationally,” said Schmidt. “This milestone represents our unwavering commitment to advancing research, improving lives, and empowering individuals with the promise of a brighter, more inclusive future."

In line with its commitment to collaboration and providing world-class care, Conquer Paralysis Now is collaborating with NeuroHope, an Indianapolis-based physical rehabilitation center designed to promote functional recovery and improve the health and quality of life for people living with paralysis. NeuroHope, founded in 2015, has relocated its staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and 150+ patients to the new facility, where they will offer extensive outpatient services to address more than 30 neurological conditions. Services include, but will not be limited to: physical, occupational, and speech therapy, pediatric
services, aquatic therapy, and adaptive exercise. NeuroHope will re-open at DRIVEN on September 23.

Conquer Paralysis Now has invested $20 million to remodel the facility to be fully ADA-compliant and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. In addition to CPN’s office space and NeuroHope’s rehabilitation and adaptive fitness areas, the DRIVEN facility offers leasable space for outside vendors and organizations and a gymnasium for adaptive sports and recreation. All together, the goal of the DRIVEN NeuroRecovery Center is to be a resource hub for patients, families, and caregivers of those living with neurologic conditions.

About Sam Schmidt
Sam Schmidt is a resident of the Las Vegas area. He was an INDYCAR driver before suffering an injury in practice in January 2000 in which he sustained a C-3/4/5 spinal cord injury that left him a quadriplegic. He created the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation (SSPF) that year to raise funds for medical research, innovative equipment used for rehabilitation, and quality-of-life issues. In 2014, the foundation was rebranded as Conquer Paralysis Now with a mission to cure paralysis while assisting those who are already disabled. Today, besides chairing Conquer Paralysis Now, Sam is a highly successful businessperson and INDYCAR team co-owner with Arrow McLaren Racing.

About Chris Leeuw
Indianapolis native Chris Leeuw is the Founder and Executive Director of NeuroHope, a non-profit outpatient rehabilitation center that specializes in recovery from neurologic injuries. In 2010, Chris sustained a spinal cord injury that initially left him paralyzed from the neck down. Throughout his two-year recovery process, he traveled to clinics across the country that combined aggressive therapy with integrated wellness programs at affordable rates to help patients maximize recovery after insurance visits were exhausted. In 2012, he returned to Indiana walking, independent, and determined to create a like-minded facility in Indiana. NeuroHope opened its doors to its first patients in February 2015.
