Indy Chamber Staffs Up to Support Small Business

Indy Chamber’s Entrepreneur Services team adds five, diverse leaders to staff

Ind. (January 11, 2023)—Today, the Indy Chamber announced the addition of new leaders within the entrepreneur services department. Stacia Murphy has been promoted to senior vice president of Enterprise Development; Keia Walker has been promoted to senior director of Lending; Marcela Montera has been promoted to director of the Hispanic Business Council; Stephanie James has been hired as director of the Central Indiana Women’s Business Center; and Christina Snorten has been hired as Business Equity for Indy (BEI) program manager.

“The Indy Chamber serves as the voice for the regional business community, and it’s imperative that we have top talent leading our organization,” said Moira Carlstedt, interim President and CEO, Indy Chamber. “Supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses across the region has never been so critical. We're fortunate to have incredibly talented leaders that strive to reach small businesses in impactful ways.”

A business unit of the Indy Chamber, the Entrepreneur Services department is tasked with connecting entrepreneurs and small businesses to capital, coaching, technical assistance, and opportunities. Under Murphy’s leadership, the group is eager to prioritize inclusion and accessibility in outreach strategies.

“Communities that nurture strong, small businesses cultivate strong economies that attract talent, create jobs, and increase vibrancy,” said Murphy. “Recent staff enhancements will enable us to be more intentional about supporting Black-, Hispanic-, women-, and other diverse-owned businesses across Central Indiana.”

In addition to the Hispanic Business Council and the Central Indiana Women’s Business Center, Entrepreneur Services also houses lending as a Small Business Administration (SBA) microlender and certified Community Development Financial Institution or CDFI. Through the CDFI, the organization can provide microloans to small businesses that may not qualify for lending through traditional banks or institutions.

“Serving the community means coming alongside our business leaders, understanding their needs, and providing them with resources to overcome barriers,” said Murphy. “I'm thrilled to lead a team of dynamic leaders passionate about strengthening Indy's entrepreneurship and small business ecosystem.”
