Employ Up

Bloomerang, the fledgling tech company that owes its rapid growth to a unique cloud-based donor management application, is continually looking for the best talent to join its team. That’s not an easy task for any company, but Bloomerang is on-boarding its newest customer service representative whose 6-week onsite employee training is free

Bloomerang partnered with Employ Up in its ongoing search for the best talent. Launched in 2015, Employ Up is made possible through an $8.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to invest in training for long-term unemployed individuals.

“This is a win, win for finding talent,” said Bloomerang CEO and co-founder Jay Love. “Employ Up helps to place talent, has available money to subsidize training – and we get the benefit of a new employee.

“They serve as an adjunct recruiter for you,” Love added, which is of particular interest for small, growing companies that may not have dedicated resources for talent recruitment. Finding qualified talent is compounded for companies like Bloomerang, which are seeking technical talent with specific skills.

With an emphasis on developing skilled talent in the healthcare and tech industries, Employ Up helps two of the fastest growing business sectors in Marion County find the right talent with the right skills. Technical jobs in both IT and healthcare are expected to grow by 21.5 percent over the next decade. Evidence of growth in the IT sector is shown in the recently released Central Indiana Tech Workforce Study: Central Indiana’s IT and computer-related jobs grew by 17 percent from 2009-2014, which is more than double the 8 percent growth rate of all occupations

Employ Up works closely with employers to understand their talent needs and hand-picks specially trained candidates to work for 6 to 8 weeks at little or no cost. This allows companies to evaluate the best, most qualified talent before making a hiring decision.

Talent who participate in the Employ Up program have completed an intensive Career Prep Boot Camp, a unique personal and professional skills training program that prepares them to succeed in their next career.

Employ Up is a program of EmployIndy and is staffed by professionals who know Marion County and the community’s evolving talent development demands. With access to funds to ensure promising talent get the exact training needed to succeed in Marion County businesses and funds to pay for training at business, companies have the opportunity to determine how well a candidate meets their talent needs before a hiring decision is made.
