Franklin College to Kick Off 2022-23 Convocation Lecture Series with Focus on Free Speech

Franklin College will host the first event in its 2022-23 Convocation Lecture Series on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Branigin Room in the Napolitan Student Center.

The event will be a community conversation with Nadine Strossen, J.D., moderated by John Krull, director of Franklin College’s Pulliam School of Journalism. Strossen will talk about free speech and why it matters.

Strossen is a New York Law School Professor Emerita, past president of the American Civil Liberties Union (1991-2008), a frequent speaker/media commentator on constitutional law and civil liberties and has testified before Congress on multiple occasions. She authored “HATE: Why We Should Resist It with Free Speech, Not Censorship” (2018). In celebration of Constitution Day, Strossen will speak about her work in preserving free speech in our society. The interview-format presentation will be moderated by Franklin College Professor John Krull, Director of the Pulliam School of Journalism.
