Indy Chamber Announces 2022 Candidate Endorsements

Indy Chamber’s Business Advocacy Committee endorses bipartisan group of state legislative candidates

Ind. (October 10, 2022)—The Indy Chamber’s Business Advocacy Committee (BAC), the political arm of the Indy region’s largest business and economic development organization, announced its legislative endorsements for the 2022 general election.

“Indiana is at an inflection point, and the policy decisions of today will make a tremendous impact on the business opportunities of tomorrow,” said Adam Burtner, vice president of government affairs, Indy Chamber. “An economic vision to improve our state’s competitiveness through investments in equitable economic development, talent attraction and retention, Hoosiers’ health, and strong infrastructure, requires bold leadership from policymakers.”

There are three races that are top priorities for the Indy Chamber. The BAC supports Senator Kyle Walker in District 31, which includes Northeast Marion County and Fishers. A thoughtful and pragmatic leader, Senator Walker understands employers' challenges and is determined to craft solutions to address them – authoring legislation on critical business issues including economic development, sports and tourism, and public safety. Senator Walker continues to champion the business community and deserves its full support.

Significant population growth in the Indy Region has led to the creation of a new seat within Marion County, Senate District 46. Educator, Andrea Hunley will be a critical asset in the Statehouse as the state works to develop and retain diverse talent in our communities. Hunley’s community leadership makes her well-equipped to represent the heart of Indy’s downtown core and business community.

Biomedical researcher, Jen Bass-Patino is seeking to represent Zionsville and parts of Hendricks and Boone Counties in the new House District 25. With her private sector experience and bi-partisan approach to policymaking, Bass-Patino is uniquely qualified to be a regional leader in the General Assembly and is committed to building consensus on solutions that drive Indiana forward.

“Indiana needs elected officials who collaborate with business leaders, build consensus, and thoughtfully bring forth solutions to support all Hoosiers,” Burtner said. “The bi-partisan candidates endorsed by the BAC reflect these values. They include proven business champion incumbents and an inspiring new class of candidates dedicated to strengthening Indy’s competitiveness on a national and international stage.”

The Indy Chamber is committed to ensuring the Indy region is the premier destination for talent and opportunity for all— electing solutions-oriented leaders is a critical step toward realizing this vision.
