In 2012, Indiana civic and corporate leaders called for building a nonprofit research institute that could attract world class research talent to Indiana to enable discovery science and innovation, working in collaboration with academic and industry researchers.

The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), established in 2013, is a leading industry-inspired translational research institute. Our strategic vision reflects the dynamic and evolving role of innovators in the biomedical field and focuses on where we can be best positioned alongside industry and academia to support entrepreneurs, advance science and deliver meaningful outcomes for patients.

We are enhancing our integrated capabilities and adding depth to how we approach patient-informed translational science, both independently and through valued collaborations. To enable our strategy, we are focused on four general scientific areas:

The IBRI Diabetes Center is the primary focus of our disease research, but over time we will extend to other diseases that share common systems and pathways.
We're developing new capabilities for molecular innovation and drug discovery to investigate disease processes and pursue new therapeutic approaches.
We're reimagining data sciences and creating novel end-user inspired solutions that address complex analysis, simulation and prediction across the translational sciences.
We're creating an expanded platform of enabling technologies to bring the best tools to bear on complex scientific problems.
