The primary responsibility of the Sr. Director of Regional Economic Development is to lead the implementation of the Indy Partnership’s business transaction services. These efforts include but are not limited to execution of the business attraction strategy, project management, data and research, and reporting.
- Work with outside consultants, local economic development officials, investors, business leaders and Indy Partnership staff to identify targets and activities for the regional external sales effort as well as the execution of strategic priorities identified in Accelerate Indy.
- Develop relationships with local economic development partners and maintain a working knowledge of all communities in The Indy Partnership region.
- Have a working knowledge of local and state incentives, the real estate market, tax structure, demographics, financing programs and other pertinent data used in the sales effort
- Work closely with Vice President to develop and maintain an effective relationship development program for national site selection consultants.
- Oversee a sales strategy for national and international business recruitment, including but not limited to relationship development, direct mail, personal calls/visits, presentations, trade shows and events.
- Coordinate domestic and international delegations and other group visits to the region.
- Represent the Indy Partnership, as needed, for business development activities including but not limited to conferences, sales trips, and site visits.
- Lead selected programs based special projects and Accelerate Indy recommendations that require cross-functional engagement with key staff across the organization, and with external stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Assist in the development of the department’s annual work plan and budget.
- Develop agendas and content for stakeholder meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Indy Chamber leadership. This might include brief assignments working closely with other departments.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.

- Excellent diplomacy skills and ability to converse easily with prominent academics and significant leaders.
- Able to prioritize, organize tasks and time, and follow up.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years or more of job-related experience. Proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution. Existing Regional relationships and/or foreign trade experience a plus.
