Under the direction of the Research Director, this position supports Research and Data, a core service area of Indy Partnership. Areas of primary focus include data collection and analysis; project management; assistance in marketing the nine-county Indianapolis region to prospective companies and their advisors; business intelligence needed for recruitment of businesses; relationship building with staff and local economic development and other partners throughout the region to maintain a deep understanding of what types of companies each community is trying to attract; and assisting with business development activities as needed. 

Requirements

The Research Manager will ensure the work of the Chamber is supported by providing research services for Chamber staff, economic development partners (LEDOs, utilities, municipalities), site selection consultants, commercial real estate brokers, companies exploring growth or relocation, and other customers, by performing the following   duties:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to draw conclusions about implications for the region;
  • Respond to routine research requests;
  • Assist with the completion of client response documents, working directly with the Indy Partnership business development and client relations team;
  • Review and evaluate data sources to determine usefulness and possible acquisition;
  • Provide data and information for all Indy Partnership marketing materials, in-house collateral, and website;
  • Proactively research and create documents to support the sales and outreach efforts of the Indy Partnership;
  • Manage the collection and presentation of information necessary for the fulfillment of research requests;
  • Ensure all necessary sources of information are collected, organized, updated, and readily available;
  • Strategically determine future research needs;
  • Build strong relationships with research partners, site consultants, real estate professionals, real estate brokers, and other professionals that impact location/investment decisions, in coordination with the Director of Client Services;
  • Communicate with LEDO and municipal partners regularly to inform and educate them on information resources and data availability;
  • Work with the Indy Partnership team to develop deep understanding of our customers so the team delivers excellent work product to customers;
  • Attend events, workshops, and tradeshows to market the Indy Region to decision makers;
  • Provide support on projects and initiatives as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Certificate or B.A./B.S. in library/information science, statistics, economics, informatics, business, or a closely related discipline, with an interest in business, economics, real estate development, or other areas of focus relevant to the critical skills, knowledge, and behaviors of the role.
