Engaging Employers for Workforce Recovery

Fighting opioid abuse in the workplace. Join us at an event near you.

The opioid crisis has dominated headlines across the nation and in our state creating a deep and lasting impact on communities and businesses. A large percentage (58-70%) of individuals in Indiana with a substance use disorder (SUD) are employed, additionally 41% of those employed individuals are currently accessing publicly-funded treatment options in the state. These numbers are evidence that substance abuse has become a business and workforce issue.

It is imperative that Indiana employers be equipped to manage the impact that substance misuse has on their current workforce, and the rippling effect it will have on their future workforce.

The Indy Chamber wants to help businesses prepare for those challenges and is partnering with Indiana Workforce Recovery, a project of the Indiana Chamber and Wellness Council of Indiana. This initiative will convene employers from affected industries in Marion County to educate on the opioid crisis, the role of employers, and ways to build the capacity for local response.

Four complimentary events will be held at locations around Marion County for Indy Chamber members and other local employers. Join us at an event near you to learn how to address substance use disorder in the workplace, and how your company can play a role in crafting a community-wide strategy for Workforce Recovery.

All events run from 8am – 2pm, with an optional Naloxone training from 2-3pm.
