PMG is Hiring a Senior Public Relations + Marketing Strategist

Pence Media Group (PMG) is a full-service public relations, media, and marketing consultancy working with clients in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Founded by Nicole Pence Becker, PMG has grown to become a dynamic, award-winning team, collaborating to help clients affirm their brand identity, craft key messages, and deliver them to targeted audiences, with an operating mantra of, “consider it done.” PMG is made up of professionals who are experts in strategic communications, public relations, brand development, and grassroots + influencer marketing. With that in mind, we offer a remote-first working arrangement, but regular on-site client meetings and occasional outside of working hours responsibilities could be required.

TITLE: SENIOR PR + MARKETING STRATEGIST

PURPOSE: To deliver exceptional services to clients and contribute to both the growth of clients and PMG

SCOPE: Client Projects

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Marketing + Public Relations Services coordination and management, client delivery, internal practice development, and professional development

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Client Retention, Client Metrics, Deliverable Quality, Project Delivery Timeliness, Client Metrics, Project Budget Adherence + Utilization Rate

MANAGERS: CEO, Director of Client Success, Director of Public Relations + Director of Marketing Services

OVERVIEW

The Senior Public Relations + Marketing Strategist is responsible for managing and executing PR and Marketing strategies PMG clients. Your responsibilities include managing client account strategy, deliverables, timelines, and resources. You’ll pitch stories to media, write content, execute events, develop marketing campaigns and enhance brand and digital presence. Collaborating with the client and PMG team is important to delivering successful client deliverables and ensuring a positive client experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, business or a related field
  • 10+ years experience in public relations, marketing or a similar role preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work
  • Proficient in Google Business Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Indiana, as needed

ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES

MEDIA RELATIONS + OUTREACH

  • Develop and execute on a proactive PR strategy for PMG and its clients
  • Write press releases, media advisories, thought leadership pieces, client newsletters, and other copy as needed
  • Manage and execute media events to generate media interest and coverage
  • Maintain, foster and improve media relationships for PMG and on behalf of our clients
  • Regularly analyze and report on media coverage
  • Cultivate relationships with reporters, editors and others across print, digital and broadcast media outlets
  • Create and maintain media lists and monitor media coverage using MuckRack
  • Coordinate media interviews and segment prep sheets and participate as needed
  • Achieves proactive and reactive news coverage locally, statewide, and nationally.
  • Identifies and shapes story opportunities and contributes to reporting functions.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with the media and organizational partners.
  • Assists with issues that could negatively impact the reputation of the organization and makes recommendation for action.
  • Maintains an ongoing knowledge of current events and news, and social media.

MARKETING + BRANDING DEVELOPMENT

  • Improve clients’ branding, marketing, and digital presence through marketing strategies that align with their business objectives
  • Write and edit copy for client deliverables
  • Participate in stakeholder assessment interviews
  • Use MailChimp or other email marketing tools as preferred by clients
  • Develop and assist with brand strategies that align with client business objectives, values, and target audiences with brand messaging, visual identity, and brand guidelines
  • Assist in and manage creation of marketing plans that align with the brand strategy, identify target channels, and create content that supports the brand’s messaging
  • Conduct market research, develop brand messaging and visual identity, create marketing collateral, optimize digital channels, and measure and analyze results
  • Work directly with graphic artists to develop visual brand assets

EVENT MANAGEMENT + EXECUTION

  • Organize promotional events, such as press conferences and grand openings
  • Supervise on-site media and event facilitation
  • Manage third-party vendors on behalf of clients, PMG
  • Event guest list development, outreach and management

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage client projects ensuring effective and efficient execution that exceeds expectations
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resources
  • Actively participate in virtual or in-person client meetings
  • Build strong client relationships by providing exceptional service that anticipates client needs + creates trust
  • Support and promote PMG
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Stay current with marketing trends and best practices (e.g., trends, tools, techniques) and apply this knowledge to projects and initiatives

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Support business development efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities which may involve research, pitch material creation, pitch meetings, and contributing to proposals, RFPs, and presentations
  • Assist with client proposal development
  • Identify new business opportunities and make recommendations for how to pursue them
  • Identify opportunities for speaking engagements and other public relations activities
