Indy Chamber Announces Matt Mindrum as New President and CEO

Experienced corporate and civic leader to take helm of Central Indiana's premier economic development, advocacy, and membership organization on December 1.

Indianapolis (Sept. 18, 2023) — The Indy Chamber is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Mindrum as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Beginning December 1, Mindrum will lead the Indy Chamber's efforts to promote regional economic development, advocate for businesses, and drive innovation.

Mindrum's appointment signals a new chapter for the organization as it continues its mission to strengthen the Central Indiana business community.

Mindrum brings experience from some of Indiana's most respected and prominent institutions, having served in significant leadership positions at Eli Lilly and Company, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), and Butler University. Most recently, Matt served as VP for Growth and Strategy at DaVita Kidney Care, helping to launch and grow a new startup division for the Denver-based healthcare delivery leader.

"We are thrilled to welcome Matt as our new President and CEO. His strategic vision and impressive track record as a leader in business and civic pursuits make him the perfect person to advance the mission of the Indy Chamber. He knows our region and, as a current board member, he knows the Indy Chamber," said Melissa Proffitt, Chair of the Indy Chamber Board. "The board looks forward to working with Matt in this new leadership role to accelerate our impact as we continue to foster a business-friendly environment and create new opportunities for Indianapolis and the surrounding region."

Mindrum's commitment to growth and innovation is evident in his teams' work to build successful brands at Lilly, drive enrollment and national recognition at Butler, and expand the impact of Indy's most recognizable asset – the Indy 500. One example of his collaborative approach to innovation was the partnership between IMS, Energy Systems Network, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and others to develop and launch the "Indy Autonomous Challenge" and establish Indiana as a leader in performance automation.

"I am truly honored to lead an organization that plays such a vital role in the success of Central Indiana. I look forward to working alongside a team of dedicated staff and passionate leaders, both in and outside the Chamber, to further raise Indy's profile, promote inclusive growth in our business community, and help our region become a magnet for business innovation and talent," Mindrum said.

Mindrum is a graduate of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. He serves on several community and nonprofit boards and is an alumnus of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series. Matt is married to his wife, MaryAnn, and has three children, Max, Michael, and Madeline.
