KERAMIDA's Pamela Griesemer, VP of Sustainability Services and Ed Joniskan, Land Division Senior Manager, attended the Brownfields 2017 conference this past December in Pittsburgh. Cosponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the National Brownfields Training Conference is the largest gathering of stakeholders focused on cleaning up and reusing formerly utilized commercial and industrial properties.
Ms. Griesemer participated in the conference's Economic Redevelopment Forum’s Consultations, where attending communities, property owners and project leads are offered an opportunity to have a project reviewed and/or gain valuable advice in brownfield transactions.
Ms. Griesemer also participated in the conference’s Shark Bait competition modeled after the famous Shark Tank TV show. Shark Bait pitches were made to a Jury of Sharks who evaluated presentations based on 1) Dynamic and engaging pitch; 2) Feasible reuse option; 3) Feasibility of plan; and 4) Likelihood of implementation.
KERAMIDA had not one but two posters selected by the conference committee for the Brownfields 2017 Poster Gallery. Ms. Griesemer presented Poster #1 “Indy's Northwest Area and Groundwork Indy: Braiding together Partnerships to Strengthen a Community” and Mr. Joniskan presented Poster #2 “Hop On! Join NWIBC on a tour of the region's top sites and meet the partners you need to know.”
KERAMIDA's “Groundwork Indy” poster also went on to win a People’s Choice Award at the 2017 Brownfield conference!
