The Circle City Classic® Education Day

Indy Chamber News Archives

The Education Day is designed to provide high school students with opportunities for college admissions, scholarships, face-to-face interaction with university representatives, and information about various campus programs and student life. The fair is open to all middle school, high school and non-traditional students. This event will use the world renowned classic football game as the back drop to attract thousands of students throughout the state of Indiana and from surrounding states. With patrons scheduled to travel to Indianapolis for the abundant number of events associated with the annual game, to include the Circle City Classic® Coronation Pageant, Circle City Classic® Parade, Battle of the Bands, and Pep-Rally among others, the Education Day Party is intended to expose youth to post-secondary institutions.

Students will be afforded a unique opportunity to connect with educational service providers to learn more about scholarships, financial aid and testing requirements necessary for admittance. The event will feature colleges, universities, and local organizations that provide services to support students in their pursuit and completion of a college degree program. Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as traditional post-secondary institutions will be represented at the event. This particular event will also feature a celebratory "party" componentto acknowledge the efforts of the students who attend.

SCHOLARSHIP RAFFLES WILL BE PROVIDED TO STUDENTS THAT COME PREPARED

Music and a raffle will be provided by a well-known DJ towards the end of the event. The prizes to be raffled include scholarships for those academically eligible students who come to the event with a resume, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and transcripts. The eligibility of the students will be reviewed by college recruiters on-site. The purpose of the raffle and scholarships are to encourage students to be prepared to interact with university staff and to help students get a head start on the admissions process.

YOUTH TICKET BLOCK SPONSORSHIPS

We are asking corporations to support the event by sponsoring a youth ticket block.  This allows middle and high school students to participate in our Education Day and to attend the Circle City Classic game.  Please see the information attached.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Leon Jackson, Director of Youth and Family Programs, at [email protected].  Thank you so much for your support.

The Circle City Classic® Education Day hosted by IBE and 100 Black Men will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM inside the Lucas Oil Stadium.
