FISHERS, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2016) – Republic Services Inc. (NYSE: RSG), an industry leader in U.S. recycling and non-hazardous solid waste, announced plans today to establish a shared services center in Fishers, which will create up to 469 new jobs by 2025.

“When industry leaders like Republic Services consider where to grow, Indiana is at the top of the list,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Indiana’s national reputation as a leading state for doing business has helped the Hoosier State add more than 140,500 private sector jobs in the last three years, with nearly 60 percent of those jobs paying above the state’s average wage. Today, I’m proud to welcome Republic Services’ expansion as it furthers this trend with plans to add hundreds of quality, middle-management jobs to the Indiana economy, leveraging our state’s affordable business climate and our dedicated, skilled Hoosier workforce.”

Republic Services, a Fortune 500 company, will invest $13.6 million to lease, renovate and equip a 68,000-square-foot class-A office space at 10194 Crosspoint Blvd. along the I-69 corporate corridor in Fishers. As noted during the company’s fourth quarter and full year 2015 earnings call today, the new facility is one of three Customer Resource Centers to be established throughout the country to enhance support for Republic’s 31,000 employees and 15 million customers across 39 states. The corporate office is expected to be operational by Sept. 1, 2016.

“With the creation of the Republic Services Customer Resource Centers (CRCs), we are taking an important step toward transforming our customer experience and we believe Indiana is the right place to do just that,” said Joe Burkel, senior vice president ofcustomer experience of Republic Services. “Placing our customers at the center of all we do is our top priority. The state-of-the-art Fishers CRC will bring advanced technologies and additional professional customer service jobs to the community, and will allow Republic to focus on delivering consistent and superior service to our valued customers.”

Republic Services currently employs more than 1,500 full-time professionals in Indiana. The company, which is committed to providing reliable and responsible recycling and waste disposal services, provides jobs for more than 31,000 employees, boasting the eighth largest vocational fleet in the United States and more than 160 environmental managers, engineers and scientists.

“Republic Services’ move to Fishers is very exciting and a testament to our commitment to bring good jobs to our community,” said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. “By locating in Concourse at Crosspoint along I-69, Republic Services has chosen an easily accessible, top-tier office space that will help attract a talented workforce and spur future development in the area. It is a perfect fit for an industry leader like Republic Services, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome them to the community.”

Headquartered in Phoenix, Republic serves commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers through 340 collection operations, 198 transfer stations, 189 active solid waste landfills, 60 recycling centers and more than 70 landfill gas and renewable energy projects.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered Republic Services up to $4,500,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Fishers will offer additional incentives.

Today’s news is the latest in a string of economic development announcements in Hamilton County. Just yesterday, Braden Business Solutions, a technology solutions provider, announced plans to construct a new office in Fishers, creating up to 120 new high-wage jobs by 2020. And in January, Allied Solutions and Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) both announced plans to expand in Carmel, together creating an additional 684 new Hoosier jobs.
