Indy Chamber News Archives

Local innovators in manufacturing, Indy-based 3D Parts Manufacturing, is changing the way young people think about manufacturing. Leading the way for Indy’s Maker Education Movement, 3D Parts Manufacturing has developed a STEM Enrichment program, called 1st Maker Space.

In collaboration with K-12 educators, post-secondary educators, libraries, business and industry, and the Indiana Afterschool Network, the 2015 mission is to connect formal and informal learning and eliminate the disconnect between K-12, higher-ed, and business and industry.

The program aims to inspire student creativity & innovation by providing  hands-on “Making” opportunities, during out of school time, that enrich and add value to their in school experience.  In support of the Maker Education Initiative, 3D Parts Manufacturing will increase access to maker spaces by expanding the 3D Printing Education Program and launching the 1st Maker Space program.

At no cost to school districts, 1st Maker Space by 3D Parts will provide educators, the 21st Century facilities, tools, technology, and support to create the authentic learning environments, during in-school-time, necessary to prepare the next generation of innovators.

1st Maker Space is hosting 3D Design and Printing summer camps at area schools ‎to introduce students to this amazing technology. Visit www.1stmakerspace.com for dates and locations and to learn more about the Maker Education Movement and opportunities for students.
