INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 1, 2014) - Green BEAN Delivery LLC, an online home delivery provider of organic produce and all-natural groceries, announced plans today to expand its headquarters here, creating up to 105 new jobs by 2024.

The homegrown-Hoosier company, which is a subsidiary of BEAN LLC, will invest $3.84 million to expand its headquarter and warehouse operations on more than five acres of land in Indianapolis. Green BEAN Delivery, which currently provides its online grocery service in four states and dozens of communities across Indiana, will continue to grow its workforce. Interested applicants can find job postings on the company's website at www.greenbeandelivery.com.

"Indiana offers the business climate necessary for good ideas to grow into business successes," said Governor Mike Pence. "From life sciences and information technology, to manufacturing and agriculture, companies know Indiana provides expertise in making things and growing things. This, coupled with our low taxes and knowledgeable workforce, makes Indiana a state that works for business growth."

"People these days want to live in places where they can easily access healthy, locally-sourced food," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. "The expansion and relocation of Green BEAN Delivery's headquarters to Indy will make us a healthier and more attractive place to live, and bring hundreds of new jobs to our city."

Founded in 2007, Green BEAN Delivery is an online home delivery grocery service that provides a full line of fresh produce and all-natural groceries year-round to its membership base. The company's mission is to make local and sustainable foods convenient, affordable and accessible to communities throughout the Midwest. The company helps support several local food businesses, including their own 60 acre organic farm, and is a key component of the local food community. Offering delivery to customers' homes and workplaces, Green BEAN Delivery operates and delivers in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri.

"After entertaining multiple proposals from different municipalities and states, BEAN LLC chose the state of Indiana and city of Indianapolis as its home," said Matt Ewer, chief executive officer and owner of BEAN LLC. "City and state support as well as the centralized location of Indianapolis to the markets we serve, were important factors in our decision. We were pleased to see both the city and state come together to support a locally grown, family-owned and operated grocery company. BEAN LLC remains steadfast and committed to creating viable change and creative solutions within our communities' food systems."

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered BEAN LLC up to $700,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis will consider additional tax abatement at the request of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.

"Because of Indy's central location, Green BEAN Delivery is able to distribute their products throughout the Midwest while in close proximity to their suppliers," said Brian Gildea, Vice President of Indianapolis Economic Development for the Indy Chamber. "This combination of factors is another reason why Indy is an excellent choice for processing and distribution and has helped Green BEAN Delivery grow to what it is today."

Green BEAN Delivery's announcement comes on the heels of Lowe's recently announced plans to locate a customer support center in Central Indiana. Just last week, Pence joined executives from Lowe's, the second largest home improvement retailer, to celebrate its investment of $20.5 million to locate a 140,000 square-foot office in Indianapolis, adding 1,000 new jobs over the next few years.
