Indy Chamber Announces Leadership Transition

Ind. (September 22, 2022)—Announced today, Michael Huber, President & CEO of the Indy Chamber, has accepted a new role with Indiana University and will leave the Indy Chamber this fall. To oversee the organization during this transition, executive and community leader Moira Carlstedt will serve as interim CEO and President of the Indy Chamber for the upcoming months until a successor for Michael is hired. Carlstedt was previously President & CEO of Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) for over 20 years.

“Over the last ten years, the Indy Chamber has made great strides under Michael’s leadership,” said Melissa Proffitt, Partner-in-Charge, Ice Miller, and Indy Chamber Board Chair. “During his tenure, Michael took what was then a traditional chamber organization, and alongside our investors and volunteers, he transformed the organization to creatively support the needs of our regional business community. Thanks to Michael’s leadership, the Indy Chamber has never been stronger. We look forward to continuing this positive trajectory with new leadership.”

Under Michael’s leadership, the Indy Chamber was able to provide record-setting support—successfully advocating for bus rapid transit, lending over $20 million to small businesses across the region, supporting equity through Business Equity for Indy (BEI), successfully completing the first phase, and kicking off the second phase of Accelerate Indy—the organization’s regional economic development strategy, and securing the designation as the Association of the Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) 2021 Chamber of the Year.

“Reflecting on the last nine years, I’m so grateful to have been a part of this team,” said Huber. “I am so appreciative of our Board of Directors, members, volunteer leadership, and the Indy Chamber staff. I look forward to finding new ways to stay connected to the organization in my new capacity. The best is yet to come!”
