Podchaser Joins Acast

We are absolutely stoked to announce that Acast has acquired Podchaser, aligning our missions to keep podcasting open and accessible to all.

Over the past five years, Podchaser has grown from a single Reddit post asking about an “IMDb for podcasts” into the world’s most comprehensive podcast database. The site today tracks over 4.5 million podcasts, 17 million host, guest, and crew credits, hundreds of thousands of ratings and reviews, sponsor data on the top 5,000 podcasts, and so much more – with over 1.7 billion total data points. Podchaser now spans the globe with employees across twelve countries and six continents. None of this would have been possible without them.

Throughout our journey, Podchaser has stayed true to its values of supporting podcasting’s open ecosystem by remaining platform-agnostic, partnering with everybody, and giving podcasters the tools they need to connect with new audiences, regardless of whether they’re independent or part of a larger network.

We are excited to maintain this spirit of independence going forward. Acast has committed not only to leaving Podchaser as is, but encouraging us to continue on our own path. Nothing is changing (not even our logo). It’s the same ol’ Podchaser you’ve come to love.

What you will see is an acceleration of Podchaser’s vision. This new chapter is supercharging our efforts to build discovery tools that help listeners, creators, and brands/advertisers get the most out of podcasting. While Podchaser will remain operationally independent, we will utilize the data and expertise of Acast to push the envelope even further. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

To everyone who has helped make Podchaser what it is – from all the feedback we’ve received from beta testers and helpful contributors to all of the people who jumped head-first into adding reviews, credits, lists, and tags – we thank you. To our customers, thank you for supporting our mission.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait for what’s coming next. On behalf of the entire Podchaser team, I’m so happy to build the future of podcasting with you all.

– Bradley, CEO and co-founder of Podchaser
