Ukrainian Day Festival at City Market

(INDIANAPOLIS – June 10, 2022) – The International Center will partner with the Indianapolis City Market to host a Ukrainian Day festival benefitting the Ukrainian Society of Indiana. The festival will take place on June 29, 2022 at the Indianapolis City Market, located at 222 East Market Street in Indianapolis.

The day-long event will promote Ukrainian culture and heritage and generate funds for Ukrainian Society of Indiana for its ongoing programming and community efforts. Ukrainian food demonstrations and tastings will be offered at 11:30 a.m. and at 4:30 p.m. and select City Market vendors will offer special Ukraine-themed menu items.

Music and song performances and workshops will be offered throughout the day, including the U.S. debut performance of “Break the Silence” by theater director Maria Fokina-Rakotonarivo of the Swiss BELOE studio. Fokina-Rakotonarivo created the performance in response to the war in Ukraine to support Ukrainian efforts.

Visitors can also enjoy a happy hour at Tomlinson Tap Room, where $1 from each pint of Bier Brewery Special Kolsch will be donated to the Ukrainian Society of Indiana.

“It’s one thing to hear about a war on television and another to understand the culture of the people it affects,” said Svitlana Ramer, vice president of development and external affairs at The International Center and president of the Ukrainian Society of Indiana. “And with the help of our community partners and support from Hoosiers, the event will showcase the way of life that Ukraine is fighting to protect.”

Admission to the event is free. Learn more, including vendor details and programming schedule at www.facebook.com/events/400557158551083.
