Central Indiana’s Higher Education Leaders Convene for Accelerate Higher Ed, hosted by the Indy Chamber

Presented by Elevance Health, event brings together university leaders to discuss talent, innovation, workforce development, and regional competitiveness 

INDIANAPOLIS.  The Indy Chamber will bring together presidents and senior leaders from Central Indiana’s colleges and universities for Accelerate Higher Ed, presented by Elevance Health, on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 4–6 p.m. at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center. 

The event will convene leaders from nine higher education institutions for a series of panel discussions exploring how colleges and universities are strengthening the Indianapolis region through workforce development, research, innovation, economic growth, and talent attraction. 

“As Indianapolis continues to compete nationally for talent and investment, our higher education institutions are among our region’s greatest assets,” said Blaine Zimmerman, Chief Talent & Marketing Officer of the Indy Chamber. “Accelerate Higher Ed creates an opportunity to bring these leaders together to share how they’re preparing tomorrow’s workforce, building meaningful employer partnerships, and helping shape the future of Central Indiana.”

Geoffrey S. Mearns, President, Ball State University 
Dr. Andy Miller, Executive Vice President, Indiana Wesleyan University National & Global 
Dr. Martin Pollio, President, Ivy Tech Community College 
Kerry N. Prather, President, Franklin College 
Dr. Latha Ramchand, Chancellor, IU Indianapolis and Executive Vice President, Indiana University 
Dr. Tanuja Singh, President, University of Indianapolis 
David M. Umulis, Senior Vice Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Purdue University in Indianapolis 

Through three moderated conversations, attendees will explore topics including: 

  1. Higher education’s role in shaping the Indianapolis region’s national reputation  
  1. Connecting students to career opportunities and strengthening the talent pipeline  
  1. Expanding innovation, research, and university partnerships that fuel long-term economic growth  

The discussions will be moderated by Indy Chamber and Indy Partnership leaders Blaine Zimmerman, Chief Talent and Marketing Officer; Macy Harmon, Senior Director of Talent & Workforce; and Jason Hester, Chief Economic Officer of the Indy Partnership. 

Accelerate Higher Ed is presented by Elevance Health, with Spokenote serving as the Event Engagement Partner. 

Business leaders, higher education professionals, employers, and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
