Thought-Provoking Music at IndyFringe Festival

The Clarinet Guy will perform at this year's IndyFringe Festival on August 22-24 with local music group, Forward Motion.

What are you carrying that you should let go? This experimental music show combines traditional instruments with contemporary sounds, blending a mixture of pre-composed music by Indianapolis composer Rob Funkhouser with the spontaneity of Forward Motion's improvisations. Featuring flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion, this show creates space for introspection, guiding you through washes of sound and feeling. By the end you may find yourself releasing your stresses, coming away lighter, bolder, and ready for your own adventure.

Forward Motion has commissioned and premiered dozens of new chamber works from composers such as Rob Funkhouser, Caroline Kyung Ahn, Eliza Brown, Jorge Muñiz, Clockwork Janz, Jared Thompson, Gabrielle Cerberville and many others. Forward Motion’s core instrumentation consists of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion; the group's activity is fluid and involves many innovative combinations of this core instrumentation. The core members regularly compose for the group bringing about a wide-range of creative expressions.

We all carry baggage that we need help letting go of, and Reflect & Release will do that for you through explorations of raw emotion with instrumental music. Unlike many of the other music-based shows at Indy Fringe this year, Reflect & Release is not a comedy, nor is it a musical. We'll create an introspective space for you where you can close your eyes and be who you want to be. If you're a fan of ambient or classical music, or if you just need a place to sit down and breathe for a change, then this is the show for you!

*This production is family friendly and suitable for audiences of all ages.*
