It was 2018 when Jennifer Knotts first heard of the Women in Business Retreat. She had decided to return to college and finish her degree in 2017 and “was looking for something to inspire me or help me find a new direction.” She says, “I just had no idea how impactful it would end up being for me!” She enjoyed her experience at the Retreat so much, that she made plans to attend every year after that. Jennifer found that each retreat provided her with ways to be a better leader and help her team grow professionally.
By 2022, Jennifer found herself feeling unfulfilled and professionally defeated. She had completed her degree in 2018 but hadn’t seen any opportunities for advancement or professional growth at her current company – a place she had been at for over thirteen years. She almost didn’t attend that year’s Retreat. Fortunately, she did and by chance, she found herself at a table with two other women. Through introductions and networking, Jennifer learned that their company, IDO Incorporated was hiring. They exchanged business cards and followed up after the retreat, which ultimately resulted in Jennifer assuming the role of their Accounting Manager. Today, Jennifer serves as the Chief Financial Officer of IDO Incorporated. She loves working for a women-owned company and knows the owners are invested in her professional growth.
Jennifer has also found time to give back, volunteering with the Central Indiana Women’s Business Center (CIWBC), where she helps connect entrepreneurs to business coaching and resources, and serves on the Program Committee, helping to plan the Women in Business Retreat. “I recommend women at all levels of business connect with the CIWBC,” she says, “You never know when the right connection will give you an amazing opportunity!”
