Start your engines! Bayer Becker is driving community growth in Indianapolis. One of Cincinnati’s largest engineering firms has expanded to the Hoosier state, opening their fifth office in downtown Indianapolis. Principal, Mike Dooley, says the firm has had their eye on the Indy market for several years, but were waiting for the timing to be right. “It’s the right time to build on our momentum. There is a similar pace of development in the Indy market that aligns with the strengths of our design staff and the services we provide.”
The firm has worked with several Indianapolis-based developers and architects for years in Greater Cincinnati. It was only natural to look to expand there. “With our existing relationships in the Indianapolis market and a great deal of opportunity for land development. We really see the potential in a number of growing Indianapolis submarkets that we just couldn’t resist” says president, Etta Reed.
Indianapolis marks the first new office for the firm since it opened an office in Cincinnati’s Over-The-Rhine neighborhood in 2013. Bayer Becker will begin offering civil engineering, transportation engineering, landscape architecture, and planning out of the new office. The office, located in Industrious co-working space in the Stutz Building at 1060 N Capitol Ave downtown, will be overseen by Mike Dooley and John Del Verne. The team will mark the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 6, 2024. The iconic four-story renovated factory building puts the firm in the heart of the city and will be a major asset to team recruiting and retention.
Another green flag is the talent pool, largely driven by Purdue University, Ball State University, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. These institutions are renowned for their strong engineering and design programs, pairing a culture of innovation and creativity with academic training and practical skills necessary for careers in land design. The firm will look to leverage their co-operative learning programs with a focus on hands-on learning and entrepreneurial mindset.
