Draperies, Blinds & More!

Help Sheer Elegance Draperies, Blinds & More, LLC welcome both our new project manager, Richard Steven Hayes, and field person/installer, Gabriel Casas.

Steven (Steve) will be working full time beginning Monday, May 6th.  He comes with an extensive portfolio of experience including managing an installation crew in past years, where he ran a successful flooring company, specializing in tiling.  Steve has come out of retirement to work with Sheer Elegance Draperies, Blinds & More.

Gabriel (Gabe) will be working full-time beginning Monday, May 6th.  He comes with a great background in the construction industry and has an amazing attention to detail and the ability to improvise on the job.

To bring you up to speed on some industry safety guidelines, effective June 1, 2024, ALL window treatments will need to be cordless, motorized, or continuous cord/chain loop with a mandatory cord/chain tensioner.

Some changes include, but not limited to:

  1. 1” aluminum blinds will need to be cordless and without pull cords to raise and lower the blind.  If you, for example, have a blind 8’ AFF, you cannot have a long pull cord to operate the shade.  This blind will need to be cordless; however, you can request a long wand to tilt the louvers only.  If you must have the blind raised or lowered, you will need to add motorization.
  2. Roller shades did not change much because they already have a continuous cord/chain loop.  However, ANSI mandates that all roller shades manufactured after June 1, must have the chain tensioner installed (keep this is mind when architects and designers request corian/granite windowsills).  Chains can no longer free hang.  Roller shades already have a cordless option but be mindful that if it is in a tall window, you may not be able to raise it all the way up.
  3. Faux wood blinds will have size restrictions as well as operation changes.  These also must be cordless, with wand tilt only.
  4. Vertical blinds (vinyl or cloth) will have options for corded (with a mandatory cord lock/tensioner), or you can opt to have wand operation.  Size restrictions may apply.

We would love to schedule a time for you to meet with us to discuss any of your window treatment needs, to answer any questions about the new ANSI regulations, and bring any samples you might need to review, per the new guidelines. Visit us on the web at www.draperiesblindsandmore.com
