Well Done Marketing Completes Agency Move to Lockerbie Square Historic District

Well Done Marketing, an Indianapolis-based, full-service agency, has relocated to 330 N. College Ave. in the Lockerbie Square historic district. Founded in 2005, Well Done moved to Fountain Square in 2007. After outgrowing its current space in the G.C. Murphy Building, agency owner Lisa Vielee started looking for a larger office last year to create a more comfortable work environment for the company’s ever-growing team.

“Finding a unique space that was able to meet the physical needs and mental well being of  current and future employees was the key driving factor in my search for a new office,” said Vielee, Well Done president. “That we found a 162-year-old building with such a rich history in the heart of Indianapolis was a wonderful added bonus.”

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy, there are more than 33 million small businesses (defined as 500 or less employees) in the United States that employ 61 million Americans— that’s 46% of private sector employees. The onus is on owners and leadership teams to make sure their workforce is trained properly, paid well, and offered amenities, which will ultimately lead to more satisfied employees and higher productivity.

As the company prepared to move, Well Done employees were asked what was most important to them in where and how they work. In addition to being located in a walkable neighborhood, a majority responded that natural lighting, informal seating, private meeting spaces, and more desk space were among the top priorities.

In response, Vielee and her design and construction teams created a floor plan with multiple conference rooms and soft seating spaces for alternative working areas, with sit-to-stand desks, soft lighting, and improved seating arrangements based on departments. The team also added a multi-purpose Wellness Room for employees or guests to use for meditation, daily prayer, or as a lactation room for nursing parents. The room also includes sensory toys and a yoga mat for those who need to decompress due to anxiety or stress.

Vielee partnered with Craig and Todd VonDeylen of Deylen Realty to form 330 N. College LLC, which purchased the building in August 2023.

“Well Done has a longstanding relationship with Deylen Realty as their tenant in the Murphy Building in Fountain Square. With their property management experience, especially in mixed-use buildings, I knew they would be great partners,” Vielee said.

The property was originally built by Frederick Simon in 1860 as a mixed-use development, with his neighborhood grocery in the front, and his home in the same building. With the addition of an attached second building in 1917, the 8,200-square-foot building has housed many creative businesses over the years including Rowland Associates founded by Sallie Rowland, one-time president of the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission.

While 330 N. College LLC owns the building, Well Done invested $285,000 as part of their lease agreement to implement the construction plan and ensure the entrances and first floor were ADA-compliant with the addition of a fully accessible restroom.

“Whenever we acquire new property, especially ones of historical significance, we have to make sure we’re providing modern amenities that are accessible to all while still maintaining the integrity of the building,” said Craig Von Deylen, president of Deylen Realty. “A city is nothing without its history, so our team always aims to honor those who inhabited spaces before us.”

Indianapolis-based companies Carson Design, KORT Builders, and Wheaton World Wide assisted with the build-out and move. The purchase was brokered by Meridian Market CRE.
