AES Indiana is partnering with Pacers Sports & Entertainment to power All-Star weekend in Indy with renewable energy

INDIANAPOLIS, (February 5, 2024) – AES Indiana, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), has purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) and will apply them towards energy usage at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indiana Convention Center, and several area hotels during NBA All-Star 2024 weekend. These RECs will offset more than the estimated 1.1-million-kilowatt hours of energy, that will be used across the host facilities during the four-day NBA All-Star event.

“The City of Indianapolis excels in hosting large sporting events, thanks to the warmth and hospitality of our people,” said Ken Zagzebski, President & CEO of AES Indiana. “AES Indiana is focused around the clock to ensure reliability and sustainability for our customers and visitors year-round. As Indianapolis prepares to host NBA All-Star 2024, we look forward to bringing cleaner energy solutions to the weekend festivities.”

For more than a century, AES Indiana has provided safe, reliable, and affordable energy to its customers. The company is accelerating the transition to a greener energy future and has diversified its portfolio to include conventional fuel sources and renewables and most recently prioritized major investments to modernize the energy grid.

“Large events like NBA All-Star 2024 not only showcase Indy’s commitment to community and the arts, but they are also an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship, as well,” said Steve Simon, PS&E Owner and Alternate Governor. “We are so fortunate to have partners in our community like AES Indiana who share our commitment and also see this important event as a chance to set an incredible precedent for future host cities.”
