Dream Center Indianapolis is hosting our 2nd annual Night of Dreams Gala to raise funds for our new facility and continued community programming. Dream Center exists to disrupt and reverse the cycle of poverty in Indianapolis. The mission is to take motivated women (single mothers and former foster youth) on a 12–24-month journey from poverty to prosperity and self-sufficiency.
History in Indianapolis: In 2014, the Dream Center started as a neighborhood hunger outreach program for students in recovery clubs. Holding weekly adopt-a-block outreaches, the Dream Center fed 32,000 families through 2019, feeding and referring families to other nonprofits through 2021. In 2019, the Dream Center joined forces with a local church to scale the weekly outreaches, serving an additional 78,000 families. Dream Center became concerned that over five years of continual services, families were encouraged and happy to see us but stayed dependent on their services to survive. Feeding and referring families to over 300 nonprofit organizations did not break the cycle of poverty. As a result, the Dream Center Indianapolis was relaunched in 2021 to create a pathway out of poverty.
