Indiana Sports Corp’s Corporate Challenge Addresses Connectivity Gap of Central Indiana Employees

The annual event expands with a new workday option for companies needing in-person team outings.

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Sports Corp Corporate Challenge presented by Elevance Health is adding an additional day of competition to give increased flexibility to Central Indiana companies looking to bring their employees together in person for workday team outings.

Corporate Challenge is a community event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with more than 100 participating Central Indiana organizations and has emphasized healthy lifestyles, friendly competition, and company camaraderie for over 20 years.

This year, companies will have the option to participate during the workday on Friday, July 21, or on Saturday, July 22. Each event day will be an identical experience for the participants regardless of which day their organization may choose. Previously, companies that participated in Corporate Challenge did not have the option to compete during a workday.

“Since the pandemic, many companies have shifted how they engage with their employees and are asking how to better connect their teams in person,” said Indiana Sports Corp President Patrick Talty. “After receiving feedback from several organizations throughout the state, it became clear there was a need for an additional day of Corporate Challenge where companies could bring their employees together in person for a workday outing.”

Indiana Sports Corp surveyed organizations throughout Central Indiana on if they would find value in adding a workday option. Among those surveyed were organizations that have participated in Corporate Challenge previously, as well as organizations that have not competed in the event.

In addition to the new workday option, a pickleball tournament has been added to the 2023 event lineup, joining event staples like cornhole, total body fitness, home run derby, football toss, running and cycling, obstacle courses, soccer shootout, yoga, and Zumba. In total, Corporate Challenge has 24 different events that employees can choose to participate in.

The pickleball tournament and a cycling time trial will take place at IMS on Thursday, July 20, for all organizations, regardless of which main-event day they choose.
