The International Center Receives $120,000 Grant for Permanent Art Installation

(Indianapolis – March 1, 2023) – The International Center has been awarded a $120,000 grant from the Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation to facilitate the commission and installation of a unique art piece at the Indianapolis International Airport.

The art is one of five special projects for The International Center’s 50th anniversary in 2023. Designed by students and faculty of the IU Herron School of Art and Design and permanently, prominently displayed in the terminal of Indiana’s award-winning airport, it will serve as a reminder of The Center’s commitment to continue embracing diversity and elevating Indiana on the global stage.

The Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation is named for Brooks Fortune, a former executive vice-president at Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Company, and his wife, Joan. The fund is managed by their children and grandchildren to support community projects in Indiana and across the United States.

“The Center is so excited to add the Fortune Family Foundation to our ever-growing list of partners for this special project,” says Martin Baier, president and CEO of The International Center. “Their support makes it possible for The Center to give the gift of art to welcome our community to this global state.”
