Trusted Mentors, which uses the power of mentoring to change the lives of at-risk adults, is seeking a dynamic nonprofit professional to take the helm of the organization in 2023. The retirement of the current Executive Director will create an exciting opportunity for an innovative, collaborative, and growth-oriented leader who understands that mentoring is a valuable tool for fighting homelessness, reducing crime, and building a healthier community.
Trusted Mentors’ model is simple, effective, and proven by years of data gathering. The organization recruits, trains, and supports volunteer mentors dedicated to helping at-risk adults practice life skills that lead to stability, employment, and a strong sense of self-worth. The organization started in 2003 as a Coalition for Homelessness Intervention & Prevention program matching mentors with adults at risk of homelessness. By 2008 the program had grown into an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit; it later expanded to provide mentors for individuals participating in re-entry programs and young adults aging out of foster care.
This is an exciting time for Trusted Mentors, which was just awarded funding from the City of Indianapolis’ Elevation Grant program. To take full advantage of this opportunity, the next Executive Director must be committed to growth through messaging, outreach, and building collaborative community partnerships as well as developing a productive staff team. Ideal candidates will be proven fundraisers, adept at business management, and experienced in mentoring and/or volunteer management. A history of working with diverse populations and individuals who have experienced incarceration, poverty, and other challenges is highly desirable.
