Fishers, Ind. – City officials gathered Friday morning with Browning Investments, Dora Hotel Company, and the project’s lender, First Internet Bank, to break ground on Hotel Nickel Plate, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton boutique hotel set to open in the vibrant Nickel Plate District in Spring of 2024. The 116-room luxury boutique hotel will span five stories while offering a full-service restaurant and direct access to the Nickel Plate Trail. Hotel Nickel Plate is a joint venture between Dora Hotel Company and Browning in recognition of the City of Fishers’ vision to transform the downtown core into a lively and walkable residential, commercial and leisure destination.
Hotel Nickel Plate is the third building of Browning’s 116th Street Development announced in December 2018, which included the new 6-story, 180,000 square foot First Internet Bank headquarters and Nickel Plate Station, a 237-unit multi-family project developed in partnership with CRG Residential featuring first-floor retail, and the rehabilitation of two legacy buildings on 116th Street.
“We are excited to begin construction on the hotel to deliver another component of the Nickel Plate District, consistent with the vision established by Mayor Fadness, his staff, and the City Council,” remarked Adam Chavers, chief development officer at Browning. Acknowledging the City’s major investment in downtown infrastructure, he added, “The Nickel Plate Trail is an incredible public asset that integrates seamlessly with the design of the hotel.”
During development and design phases the team’s hope was to utilize the direct access to the Nickel Plate Trail to bring the hotel and the community together at the iconic destination of the 116th Street Tunnel and Stairs.
Chavers also recognized the forethought and support of First Internet Bank who not only partnered with Browning on the construction of their new headquarters next door, but also provided financing for Nickel Plate Station and Hotel Nickel Plate.
“This project is especially fun for us because we get to bring such a unique concept to our own backyard,” Tim Dora, president of Dora Hotel Company said. “From the beginning, this project has been more than just a hotel. We are excited to team up with Browning and the City to bring Hotel Nickel Plate to Fishers where the city’s current growth and construction carry on the great tradition of nickel-plated improvements, set to increase the value and worth of our community,” continued Dora.
Hotel Nickel Plate is part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, curated due to customer and owner demand for original upscale hotels that cater to guests seeking reliability and value in their independent hotel choices. This brand encourages guests to explore the local area, seek their adventurous sides and create an authentic connection to their destination. Guests will be able to immerse themselves into Fishers by walking across the street to the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, shopping at the local trendy boutiques, visiting the Farmer’s Market, or taking a walk on the Nickel Plate Trail, expanding their connectivity into our community.
Hotel Nickel Plate’s design pays homage to the Nickel Plate Railroad, utilizing local touches throughout the property maintaining its individual spirit, while offering guests an experience that is approachable and familiar as well as different from other hotels in the area. As part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, each stay is also backed by the reassurance of the Hilton name as well as its unmatched commercial engine and award-winning Hilton HHonors program.
Dora concluded remarks with, “The Nickel Plate District motto is LIVE • SHOP • DINE • PLAY… and we are eager tointroduce STAY.”
