The International Center Announces Three Finalists For The Global Impression Award

(Indianapolis – August 10) – The International Center has announced the three finalists for its third annual Global Impression Award (GIA). Finalists include Tiffany Hanson, Olanike Oladunni Olaniyi and Yaza Swe. These individuals were selected from a competitive group of global leaders in Indiana, nominated by their peers.

The International Center created the Global Impression Award in 2018 with the intention to recognize the next generation of Indiana’s global leaders and celebrate their work. These individuals each contribute to creating a more global Indiana that values all cultures. Previous winners of the award were Dr. Rachel Vreeman, George Srour and Andrea Richter-Garry.

Hanson is the manager of strategic engagement for LUNA Language Services, a translation and interpretation service organization based in Indianapolis;

Olaniyi works for the Indianapolis Public Library as a collection development librarian and volunteers with the Immigrant Welcome Center as a natural helper, assisting immigrant and refugee families in Indianapolis;

And Swe is the manager of employment programs for Exodus Refugee Immigration, Inc., connecting refugee clients to careers and resources in Indianapolis.

Kevin Henderson, vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at UnitedHealth Group and member of the Global Impression Award committee spoke to the caliber of all nominees. “The nominations our committee received this year truly represented the diverse and bright future of global leadership in Indiana. It was a difficult decision to select only three finalists.”

Martin Baier, president and CEO of The International Center, added, “Though Tiffany, Olanike and Yaza are each contributing their unique global impressions on our state, they all share the sense of Hoosier hospitality that makes Indiana welcoming to all.”

The winner of the GIA award will be announced on October 18th at the 2022 International Citizen of the Year (ICY) event honoring Tamika Catchings. For more information about the ICY event, including sponsorship and ticketing details, please contact Svitlana Ramer at [email protected].
