INDIANAPOLIS – What do the Pacers, Penske Entertainment, St. Vincent Health, and OneAmerica all have in common? Amazing employees and outstanding citizens who were honored by Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, for exemplifying Scouting values in our community.
The Council recognized these hardworking community leaders at the 38th annual Character in Action Awards Dinner on Thursday, August 11th.
Dr. Michael Busk (System Executive and Medical Director, St. Vincent Health) received the Thomas W. Moses Good Scout Award, named after Mr. Moses’ work as a civic leader, passionate statesman, military veteran, and successful businessman. The award is presented each year to one individual who does things for others without seeking reward because it is the right thing to do.
Andy Wilkinson (Senior Vice President, OneAmerica Financial Partners) received the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award, which recognizes Eagle Scouts notable for their distinguished service.
Allison Melangton (Senior Vice President, Penske Entertainment) was honored with the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award, named for Mr. Young’s unselfish acts of service to disadvantaged youth.
James T. Morris (Vice Chairman, Pacers Sports Entertainment) is a 2022 Silver Buffalo Award recipient from the Boy Scouts of America’s National Court of Honor. The Indiana philanthropist joins U.S. Presidents and astronauts by receiving Scouting’s highest commendation, earned by fewer than 800 individuals since its creation in 1925.
Also recognized were the 2022 Silver Beaver class, the highest award the Crossroads of America Council bestows. And finally, this year’s Eagle Scout class - including the Judge John Price Award and the Merle Miller Award, given to two youth Eagle Scouts.
