Deveau is chair of Taft’s Environmental practice group and represents clients in relation to all aspects of environmental law. He advises clients with respect to due diligence and environmental issues relating to merger, acquisitions, and complex real estate transactions. He has also assisted clients in administrative proceedings, obtaining and maintaining compliance with solid and hazardous waste permits, air permits, water discharge permits, CAFO, and CFO permits. He also advises and defends clients in relation to environmental litigation involving private parties, and federal and state government.
Guevara leads Taft’s Brownfield and Site Development practice area and concentrates his practice in complex environmental litigation and insurance law matters. His clients include corporations, municipalities, real estate development firms, and individuals, each of whom are exposed to some form of, or seek to avoid, legal liability. In addition, Guevara counsels businesses, real estate development firms, municipalities, redevelopment commissions, financial institutions, and individuals in the acquisition, disposition, and redevelopment of environmentally-contaminated properties. He also provides economic development and public-finance representation to clients involved in the development of environmentally-impaired real estate.
In addition, Deveau and Guevara are the authors of Environmental Liability and Insurance Recovery, published by ABA Publishing in 2012. Guevara is also the author of “The Application and Regulation of Institutional Controls in Indiana” in Implementing Institutional Controls at Brownfields and Other Contaminated Sites (ABA Publishing 2012).
