Hirons hires new senior vice president to lead strategy and account services

INDIANAPOLIS – Hirons, an Indianapolis-based advertising, public relations and digital agency, has hired Andrea Farmer, APR, as senior vice president of strategic communications and account services.

With 15 years of marketing and communications experience, Farmer joins the company’s senior management team and will lead account services and strategic communications, provide planning and strategy support for key agency clients and support the agency’s business development activities.

Farmer was previously with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, serving as associate director of strategic initiatives since 2014. She played a key role in the organization’s first-ever paid advocacy and brand campaign, which included national television and radio spots as well as digital and social media ads and customized content for such top-tier news organizations as The New York Times, Vox and Sports Illustrated.

She also oversaw strategic communications planning for the NCAA’s national office and was responsible for delivering strategies to help the organization build relationships with key stakeholders, including university presidents, athletics directors and faculty. Prior to the NCAA, she led several large account teams at an Indianapolis agency for nearly a decade.

“Hirons’ consultancy-based model and involvement with some of the Midwest’s most high-profile projects is really attractive to me,” said Farmer. “Its long-standing reputation and position in the Indianapolis market paired with its recent growth makes the agency well-positioned for the future. I look forward to helping the business grow and to further refine our client engagement efforts.”

Farmer, a magna cum laude graduate of Ball State University, is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and served as Hoosier Chapter president in 2016. She currently serves on the PRSA East Central District board of directors and is an assembly delegate for the PRSA Hoosier Chapter.

“Andrea’s expertise in strategic planning – combined with her strong marketing and public relations background, integrated skill set and breadth of experience – is a tremendous addition to our agency,” said Jim Parham, president and CEO of Hirons. “She will be an incredible asset to our clients, our agency and our fellow employee-owners.”

Farmer is a member on the board of directors for Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis and chaired the search committee for the organization’s most recent president and CEO. She also is a member of the Emerging Leaders young professionals group sponsored by United Way of Central Indiana.
