INDIANAPOLIS – A new statewide poll shows Hoosiers overwhelmingly support a hate crime law, the Indiana Chamber says.
The Indiana Chamber released Tuesday the results of a poll that shows support for a hate crime law in the State of Indiana.
The poll showed 84 percent of Democrats, 75 percent of independents, and 63 percent of Republicans support the law.
The poll of 600 registered voters was commissioned in December. A hate crime law is on the Indiana Chamber’s list of priorities for the legislative session.
“Indiana is a warm and welcoming state,” Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar said. “But it is time to remove any perception that is not true and, most importantly, remove Indiana from the short list of states without a bias crimes law.”
