UK company launches in Boone County

DS Smith Plc is an award-winning UK packing company that now has plans to grow in the Indy Region, in Boone County, Indiana. In late 2018, the company announced a more than $100 million investment in the city of Lebanon. A producer of paper and plastic packaging for businesses, the company was recently named UK Packing Company of the Year at the UK Packaging Awards. With this expansion of production in the state, 140 new jobs are anticipated for the Lebanon Business Park area.

DS Smith’s North American Packing and Paper Business president and CEO, Jim Morgan, has highlighted the importance of Lebanon’s location for the company.

“[Our location choice] was really driven by where our customers were located first,” noted Morgan on WFYI. “Then where we could find the right kind of workforce [and] the right environment to do our business in”.

“We are excited that DS Smith is bringing their innovative technology to Lebanon,” said Boone County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Molly Whitehead. “The jobs they will bring are above the Boone County average wage and a welcomed addition to our community.”

In early January 2019, DS Smith broke ground in their new Lebanon site location, alongside state and local officials.
