The Million Meal Marathon, presented by Million Meal Movement, the Indianapolis Colts, and Strada Education Network, will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. The event will kick off with a news conference featuring Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Midwest Food Bank's John Whitaker, and the founding members of Million Meal Movement.
Participants work in two-hour shifts to hand-package nutritious meals for hungry Hoosiers. Meals packed will be distributed to food banks in Indiana to feed the 1 in 5 Hoosier children that are food insecure and their families. Meals will be delivered to Gleaners and Midwest Food Bank, where they will then be distributed to food pantries across the state. Community members can get involved through table sponsorships and as non-packing volunteers. The Million Meal Marathon is a unique opportunity for Indy Chamber businesses to give back to the community in a way that encourages volunteerism, promotes team building, and fulfills corporate social responsibility.
The Million Meal Marathon is the signature event of Million Meal Movement, a humanitarian food relief organization. The mission of Million Meal Movement is to feed the hungry at home while teaching our children and communities the power of volunteerism. Launched in 2007, Million Meal Movement has provided nearly 29 million life-saving, highly nutritious meals to the hungry in Indiana and around the world, all packaged by volunteers.
