Innovation Communities Make Big Announcements in the Indy Region

Entrepreneurs and innovators in the Indy Region have had a lot to celebrate over the past week. With the opening of Indiana IoT Lab- Indiana’s First Internet of Things lab in Fishers, and the 16 Tech Innovation Community Corporation’s first phase funding announcement, the Indy Region is collectively taking steps attract, retain, and develop innovative talent.

The Indiana IoT Lab is a partnership between Launch Fishers and the City of Fishers, and is both a coworking and innovation space for design thinking, cloud computing, edge technology, and software development. Members of the IoT Lab will represent a variety of industry sectors, including industries that will be heavily impacted by technology such as manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture. The goal of the lab is to create next-generation technology.

The 16 Tech Community Corporation is moving into the first phase of development thanks to a $38 million grant from the Lilly Endowment and has made an agreement with Browning to construct three new buildings and renovate one facility on 11 acres of property provided by the City of Indianapolis. When finished, 16 Tech will be an innovation hub where entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators, companies and residents work collaboratively to create a launching pad for new ideas, technologies, and growth.
