Ambrose Property Group hires prominent community advocate

Ambrose Property Group has named Mali Simone Jeffers director of marketing and community initiatives for the redevelopment of the former GM stamping plant site.

The Indianapolis-based commercial real estate company acquired more than 103 acres in May 2017 with plans to develop a thriving new district on the west side of downtown Indianapolis. As former director of engagement and operations for Midtown Indy, Jeffers has experience working for and closely with the Indianapolis community.

“I’m passionate about the Indy community, and I see this development transforming the entire landscape and future of the city,” said Jeffers. “We have a tremendous opportunity to create an area attractive to Indy’s many diverse audiences, and I’m looking forward to engaging the community for its input and guidance.”

Tagged “The Unsegregator” by The Indianapolis Star, Jeffers began her career organizing a series of public events for underserved communities before embarking on a career of independent project management. As an Indy native, she used her passions for diversity, equity and inclusion in a Love Indy project manager role for Plan 2020 – Indianapolis’ bicentennial planning agenda – where she worked to foster local pride, tourism and civic engagement.

In her new role with Ambrose, Jeffers will oversee all community relations and marketing efforts for the site with hopes to reimagine downtown’s western edge.

Jeffers comes to Ambrose with an array of accolades, including a Forty under 40 recognition from the Indianapolis Business Journal and the Minority Achievers Award in Arts and Culture from the Center for Leadership Development. She sits on the Board of Directors for Indiana Humanities, Big Car, Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership and the Board of Directors Task Force at Newfields.

Ambrose established a commitment to partner with the community early and often in the regeneration of the site. To ensure community involvement remains a priority throughout the process, Ambrose sought an experienced professional to foster relationships and advocate for the needs of residents and businesses in the area.

“Mali is a perfect fit for this role with a deep portfolio of experience in project management and community development,” said Aasif Bade, president of Ambrose Property Group. “Her forward-thinking personality and commitment to the community will play a large role in this project’s success.”
