Anchor Institution Announcement Planned this Week

Indy Chamber News Archives

Later this week, look for a public announcement of an initiative that’s been incubating and moving forward behind-the-scenes for nearly three years – the Indy Chamber’s Anchor Revitalization Program is a sweeping strategy aimed at redevelopment, local hiring and business opportunities around Marion County’s major institutional employers.

The Chamber has worked with partners like the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP), the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and others to engage these civic institutions, higher education and healthcare campuses as ‘anchors’ of their surrounding neighborhoods.  The goal is to create “Live-Hire-Buy” development around the anchor partners to increase homeownership in the urban core and keep capital and jobs in the region.

The ‘Live’ phase of this effort is well underway in collaboration with INHP.  This week’s news will include more detail on the progress of the housing strategy, and next steps on the ‘Hire’ and ‘Buy’ plans.
