Hi,

Tapping into the Global Market: Your One Stop Shop

Indy Chamber News Archives

Eighty percent of the world’s purchasing power is outside of the United States, yet just four percent of U.S. companies export. With a deep-rooted history in manufacturing positioning the Indy region as a competitor in the domestic and global economies, the Indy metro is primed to take advantage of exporting activity. To help locally based small and medium-sized businesses that are interested in international expansion, the Indy Chamber’s Entrepreneur Services division offers resources designed to guide businesses through the exporting process.

Business owners looking to export can meet with a free one-on-one business coach who will help them develop a business plan for exporting or growing their exports. As an added bonus, the GoGlobal Grant Export Acceleration Program, presented by the Indy Chamber and JPMorgan Chase provides financial assistance to qualifying companies for activities and services that help prepare them for international business activities and support expansion into new markets. An Indy Chamber business coach can assist qualifying businesses through this application process.

As another resource to help companies become familiar with the export process, the Indy Chamber’s Global Indy program regularly hosts luncheons and an informative Export Bootcamp webinar series featuring export experts. Companies looking to export can also take advantage of the rich opportunities that the Small Business Administration offers, including counseling, training, and financing.

The Indy Chamber is looking at global trade and investment as a strategy to bring the Indy region industry, wage, and job growth. With exporting firms paying 17 percent more in wages on average than non-exporting firms, according to The Brookings Institution data, the need for metro companies to engage in export activity has never been clearer.
