100th Running Host Committee Offers Grants to Support Life Enriching Civic Programs for Indiana Residents

INDIANAPOLIS (February 24, 2016) – The 500 Gives Back Committee, part of the 100th Running Host Committee, is offering $50,000 in grants to Indiana community organizations. The grants are intended to turbo charge new or established events, programs or place-making that will enrich the lives of Hoosiers and leverage the celebration around the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

As we approach the milestone 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, the 500 Gives Back Program strives to create a lasting legacy within Indiana by lifting up organizations that heighten civic pride, create cultural connections, foster social engagement and stimulate education. The 500 Gives Back grants are available to qualified, Indiana-based nonprofit organizations, public schools and government agencies. Grant size will vary, with maximum grant of $5,000.00. The deadline to submit grant applications is 11:59 pm ET on March 16, 2016. The grant application and extended eligibility requirements are available HERE.

The 100th Running Host Committee is part of the 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events and programs celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500 and fostering a positive impact throughout the Hoosier state, working in tandem with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame museum. The Host Committee includes 12 full volunteer committees and 40 sub-committees with hundreds of enthusiastic community volunteers. These individuals are charged with working together to celebrate and leverage the 100th Running by enhancing the quality of life for all Hoosiers, elevating the image of the State of Indiana, heightening civic pride, creating cultural connection, enabling social impact and stimulating education.

Hoosiers and racing fans will also mark 50 years of Team Penske in racing.
