INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 4, 2015) – Kinney Group Inc., a data center solutions provider, announced plans today to expand its operations here, creating up to 89 new high-wage jobs by 2019.
The company, which designs, builds and integrates IT infrastructure solutions for government agencies and commercial organizations, will invest $5.8 million to renovate 10,000 square feet at its 2425 W. Michigan St. location. The expanded facility will allow Kinney Group to add office space to accommodate its growing workforce.
“Indiana’s strong economy, fiscal responsibility and pro-growth policies make announcements like this possible,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Companies like Kinney Group know the value of building on a solid foundation and investing in the Hoosier State pays dividends both today and into the future. I look forward to Indiana’s continued partnership with Kinney Group as we work to create quality, high-wage jobs for talented Hoosiers.”
Kinney Group, which currently has 41 full-time employees in Indiana, plans to begin hiring immediately for IT and software engineer positions. Interested applicants can apply by submitting a resume at www.kinneygroup.com/careers. Average wages for new positions are expected to be more than 80 percent higher than the state’s average wage.
“With leaders at both the city and state committed to our expansion efforts, Indiana has truly cultivated a compelling environment for information technology companies to grow and thrive,” said Jim Kinney, owner and chief executive officer of Kinney Group. “The IT markets where our firm plays are hyper-competitive, and we feel confident that the investments we make in our Indiana-based headquarters and people, along with access to bright talent from across the state, will provide us with competitive advantage for many years to come.”
Located on the west side of Indianapolis, Kinney Group is committed to corporate citizenship, engaging the local community by providing work space for organizations to meet at no cost. The company also sponsors a growth program, which allows local teenagers the opportunity to grow and sell vegetables at an on-site urban garden to develop business skills.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered Kinney Group Inc. up to $1,150,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis supports the project at the request of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.
“I am so pleased that Kinney Group identified Indianapolis as an ideal place to expand the company’s successful operation," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. “This type of significant investment and job creation are strong indicators that our tech sector is quite healthy and continues to grow.”
Kinney Group is the latest tech company to announce growth plans in Indiana, joining firms like Allegient, Emarsys, Appirio, Rook Security, Return Path and TCC Software Solutions. Approximately 20 percent of the IEDC’s projects this year are in the tech sector. Together, these companies have committed to creating nearly 4,000 new jobs in the coming years with an average salary above $78,000 annually.
