Franklin College President Dr. Thomas J. Minar began his inaugural year at the campus this summer, and is already full of Grizzly pride. “Franklin College is made up of a community of people who care. The faculty and staff are dedicated and enthusiastic, and are passionate about graduating students who have real experience in the workplace.”

Global exposure and experience are a big part of the curriculum at Franklin College. Students are routinely placed at internships in global companies like Eli Lilly and Cummins where they gain on the job experience and a higher understanding of international business. Earlier thisyear, Franklin College sent a group of students to Indy Chamber’s World Trade Day where they had the opportunity to meet and network with international business professionals and learn about Indy’s global trade market.

“Being a member of the Indy Chamber is a great asset to us at Franklin College. Their entire team is genuinely focused on listening to our goals and assisting us with making the connections we need to be successful in attaining them; their approach is never “cookie cutter” and they work hard to provide us custom and out-of-the-box ideas to ensure our brand is always well-represented. They are at the forefront of all the development and growth happening in our great city and are an invaluable resource in terms of insight and business strategy,” says Dr. Minar.

Also at the forefront of growth and development, Franklin College students have a heavy presence at the Indiana Statehouse. Students have the opportunity to work side-by-side with professional journalists, prepare for careers as reporters, and develop skills in the media industry through the student powered TheStatehouseFile.com, which has earned a widespread reputation.

“When I worked in Washington DC, I was referred to TheStatehouseFile.com by my colleagues to get to know what was happening in Indiana. It is nationally recognized that Franklin College is preparing students for professional careers in an experiential and engaged liberal arts setting,” says Dr. Minar.

With just over 1,000 full time students from 19 states and 17 countries, Franklin College offers a diverse setting with one-on-one interaction from the faculty and staff.  Like the Indy region, Franklin College is committed to promoting and growing diversity.

“I’m pleased to be here,” says Dr. Minar, a Chicago native. “Hoosier Hospitality is alive in the Indy region. The community is a great asset to Franklin College!”

While small in size, Franklin College is making a big impact in Indiana. In 1842, Franklin College became the first college in Indiana to admit women, setting the precedence for progressive thinking early. And just recently, Money magazine announced its ranking of the top 50 colleges and universities from across the nation that add the most value to their degrees, ranking Franklin 44th – the only Indiana school to make the elite list. Nestled in Franklin, Ind., the campus offers scenic views and plenty of opportunity to learn, both in and out of the classroom.
