Through funding provided by the Indianapolis Foundation’s Community Crime Prevention Grant, Edna Martin Christian Center and the Indy Chamber’s Re-Entry Entrepreneurship Development Program (REDi) have teamed up to provide business plan development and customer service training at Jail II. This past week, one Jail II class included a pitch contest featuring cash prizes:
- 1st place provided $500 for a car detailing service
- 2nd place provided $250 for a local, specialized freight service
- 3rd place provided $100 for a moving service
Upon release, the winners will sign up with Edna Martin Christian Center’s Career Education and Training Academy (
One of the judges from the class shared, “It was really great to see the REDi Candidates utilize the material that they’ve learned from these classes and apply it to their business ideas.” We look forward to entrepreneurial success as a result of the Edna Martin and REDi partnership.
