Small Business Saturday Returns to Mass Ave for the Seventh Year Running

Indianapolis – November 1, 2016 – Riley Area Development Corporation (RADC) along with title sponsor Horizon Bank, announced today their participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday event, taking place on November 26th. Part of a nationwide movement, this day is dedicated to supporting local businesses and celebrating community.  This will mark the seventh Small Business Saturday to date.

(RADC) is excited to welcome the public to Mass Ave and hopes to see even more participation by merchants and shoppers than last year. Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season and encourages those from all over Indy to visit the Avenue and take advantage of the very diverse and unique shopping available.

“We are planning a full day of events including swag bags, food trucks and entertainment along Mass Ave.” says Eric Strickland, Executive Director of (RADC). “I’d like to encourage those attending to take advantage of all Mass Ave has to offer.  Make a day out of it.  Shop, eat and visit with our store owners.  It really is a great way to welcome the holiday shopping season in Indianapolis.”

(RADC) and Horizon Bank recognize the importance of supporting small business in Indianapolis.  The City’s dedicated independent business owners create jobs, culture and a sense of community.

“The local businesses of our area have made Indy a strong community to live and work in. Horizon truly cares about this great community, and supports it by offering exceptional service and sensible advice. Through events such as Small Business Saturday, we all help keep our local economies strong. Horizon Bank is very proud to sponsor this year’s event.” Says Bill Denton, Horizon Bank Regional President of Central Indiana

1According to the U.S. Small Businesses Administration, as of 2014, small businesses nationwide accounted for 63% of net new private-sector jobs created and represented 99.7% of firms with paid employees.
