WGU Indiana’s Chancellor Alison Bell Named Finalist in Two Categories for the Edtech Awards 2023

WGU INDIANA’S CHANCELLOR ALISON BELL NAMED FINALIST

IN TWO CATEGORIES FOR THE EDTECH AWARDS 2023

INDIANAPOLIS WGU Indiana Chancellor and Regional Vice President Alison Bell has been named a two-time finalist in the EdTech Awards 2023 for the EdTech Trendsetter and Leadership categories. Celebrating its 13th year, the U.S.-based program is the world's largest recognition program for education technology, recognizing the biggest names in edtech.

By utilizing technology, WGU Indiana is able to serve a diverse student body, especially those who are not always well-served by traditional colleges. This recognition honors Bell for her extensive work in helping non-traditional and more diverse learners access flexible and affordable online learning options. At a high level, Bell and her team spread awareness and secured impactful partnerships through various university campaigns aimed at highlighting how higher education can be part of the solution to many staffing strains, high-demand and high-skill jobs, workforce development woes, and other education and economic trends.

“Each of our four schools serve critical fields of work in our society – business, healthcare, education and IT – and our university is committed to increasing both awareness of the impact higher education can have on communities and access to degrees that skill-up," said Bell. "This honor affirms our commitment and pushes us to keep propelling our mission forward.”

WGU Indiana’s model highlights four key access points — cost, flexibility, place and time. And for the online university, these are all equally important as the only way to set up students for success is to understand where people are right now and meet them there.

The EdTech Awards were established in 2010 to recognize, acknowledge, and celebrate the most exceptional innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology. Past winners include Adobe, Blackboard, Discovery Education, DreamBox, Scholastic, SMART Technologies, and more. This year’s finalists and winners were narrowed from the larger field and judged based on various criteria, including pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value and potential.
